A Nice Shout-Out from KREM 2 News: Comcast Workers Brave Sub-Zero Temperatures

That's Comcast tech Adrian Gonzalez, filmed by KREM 2 News as he and other workers in many industries work outdoors despite sub-Zero temperatures in Spokane

Dang, it’s been cold in Washington State. Spokane in particular has been hit with arctic-like conditions, so it was nice that KREM 2 News decided to acknowledge many of the people who work outdoors. The station sent a reporter and crew to film Comcast network technician Adrian Gonzalez in his bucket truck as he worked in “the heat of day,” which was about 14 degrees.

Adrian provided classic advice: “We layer up and stay hydrated.” Watch the segment here

Comcast Washington Honors Boys & Girls Clubs of Thurston County with PSA campaign video

Our own video production manager Ed Hauge worked with The Boys & Girls Clubs of Thurston County in the latest in a series of PSAs, or Public Service Announcements, we’ve done over the years to highlight their great work with youth. The video features all local kids, educators and parents. Hope it makes you smile.

We’ll be airing the PSA throughout Thurston County for an airtime donation of more than $50,000 as part of our support for the club, which has included a Comcast Foundation grant for technology and sponsorship of the club’s May 26 annual breakfast.

If you are in or around Thurston County, or just run a nonprofit anywhere nearby, it’s worth going to the breakfast. You’ll see how a proud organization explains what it does and gracefully asks for support. In my very humble opinion, it’s one of the best-run fundraisers of its kind in the state.

Maintenance note: Could Affect Service

At noon today, we’ll be switching out a piece of network equipment that might disable our simplest cable TV boxes. The boxes should be back up soon, but we will stay in touch about any delays. Once the equipment is replaced, everything should be fine; if a box were to freeze, the best solution would be to unplug it for half a minute and then plug it back in.

We’ll also put updates on our Facebook page.
